Solid four stars. Great service and excellent home cooked food. Don't let the location fool you. This is the real deal for authentic Polish food. Schnitzel, chicken livers, cabbage rolls were amazing. The blueberry cheesecake was outstanding and enough for 2-4 people. Will be back when we are in town again.

Excellent food. The service was a bit slow, but they were busy. The pierogies were excellent!

Traditional, heavy, Polish cooking, Served in a classic basement bar setting, by professional ladies, that's been there for decades. A nice combo platter, with the side of pierogies is plenty for 2 to take on a picnic to enjoy out in the fresh air!, Add a bottle of wine, and you have the perfect picnic! Don't forget to bring CASH!!!

This place is absolutely awesome, the food is so good here, very authentic and the best polish food I've ever had. The waitress was very attentive and definitely polish as she had a strong accent. The place is small but had a very polish ambiance about it and I loved it. I even tried the polish beer and that was amazing as well. Definitely coming back.

I was a bit hesitant to go here as a lot of polish food contains glutenous foods. I ordered the stuffed cabbage and the cabbage soups and it was amazing!!! I actually can't wait to go back or pick up a catering order for their sausage and stuffed cabbage. It's a super old restaurant and the decor is a little old but I wouldn't expect anything grand. The food speaks for itself. Wait staff was very kind.

For 34 years we have looked for a truly authentic Polish restaurant. In town for family and my first time in Motor City Detroit and we had family tell us of Polish Village Cafe Down the stairs and you walk into Eastern Europe. A quaint space full of history and heritage. The menu had some of the polish favorites that we have been looking for. Marta greeted us and was knowledgeable about the food and how to get the most from our experience Fresh pirogies, pan fried kielbasa, piping hot Czarnina. We got the stuffed mushroom crepes, juicy meatballs in brown gravy , roast pork with kraut. Every bite was a trip to another place. J and I shared everything and we had so much left to take back with us.... You get plates full of food and love...

We came in for lunch just after it opened one weekday recently. The main restaurant / bar is located in the lower level. What nice staff! Efficient too! I ordered a cup of Dill Pickle Soup and a Fried Pierogi platter. Wow! I highly recommend both dishes! The soup was excellent. The pierogi were served hot, wonderfully crispy and oh so flavorful. Do be aware, it can get loud in the restaurant. I saw signage posted throughout saying that they were "CASH ONLY" so be aware of that too. Parking is available in the lot next door for about $1 per hour, if nothing is found on the street.

This place was so lovely. The staff were friendly and inviting. The ambiance made us feel like we're in a different country when we went down those steps and into the dining room. The food was all delightful. Lots of meats and delicious sides. Their sauerkraut was so good. I definitely felt a home-cooked flavor and I felt like I was eating something made by people from that part of the world. The only reason I'm dropping a star is because of the payment process. They only want cash payments. They have an ATM onsite and when I went to take out cash, it ran out of it. Then they told me my server would come to us with a way to accept a card. She came, we tried, it failed multiple times, she had to go back to get it to work. Finally she came back and we got our bill paid. It was a negative way to end an otherwise lovely experience. It's 2023. You should absolutely have a reliable way to accept a card payment.
